Business Turn-offs
As a customer, there are a few things that will immediately turn me off to a business and make me unlikely to buy anything from them. I try to avoid these things in my own work.
Business turn-offs for me include:
- Bad customer service. This is the number one business turn-off for me. If I experience rude service when working with any kind of business I will almost always decide to go somewhere where I will be treated better.
- Poor quality of promotional materials. I recently receivedĀ a mailer from a business that was obviously done in cheap color copy. The print was ugly and there were typos. It’s not that hard to find a good color copy center or to get high-quality online business printing but this company couldn’t be bothered. That shows a lack of care and that’s not a business that I want to work with.
- Hypocritical behavior. I don’t care much if a business is green or not but if it advertises itself as green and then I see it being wasteful then I feel as though I’ve been lied to. Any kind of hypocrisy like this turns me off.
What type of things make you immediately decide that a business isn’t worth working with?

I HATE bad customer service. I went to go buy my mom a mothers day present at a jewelry store and the employee’s had horrible customer service skills. I waited over 20 minutes to ask a question and never got helped. I ended up walking out and going to another place.
I just recently bought a copy machine for my house. I did some research on them and ended up going with this company online. They swore by their product so I bought one and had it shipped to my house. It is the worst copy machine ever. It doesnt print right and there is always at least one typo on every paper. What do I do?
I agree with the costumer service portion of this blog. Whenever I receive bad customer service from a business I will always go somewhere else. I will not give anyone a second chance. I think good customer service is one of the most important things in a business.
I am the owner of a large copy machine store. I think customer service is the number one thing in running a good business. I tell all my employee’s that if they dont have good customer service than this is not the place for them to work!!
A big turn-off for me in a business is being lied to. I went to a copy machine and printer store with my husband looking to buy a copy machine. The people working there where very nice and very helpful. We ended up ordering a copy machine from the store and till this day have not recieved it. They said it would be in the store in 4 to 5 business days. Its been over a week and they keep making up excuses to why it has not come in yet. I am about ready to cancel my order because we need a copy machine asap. What would you do?
If I where you Matt I would try and talk to the manager and if he does not have a good explanation on why it is taking so long, I would cancel your order and go somewhere else. I hope this helps you out. Good Luck
I agree with Matt I hate being lied to and I hate bad customer service. I think a business should always treat their customers with respect. If I get treated poorly at a store I will talk to the manager then I will take my business elsewhere.
I hate when a company lies about the quality of their product. I think it is very deceitful for a business to lie about the quality of their product. I had this happen to me when I bought a copy machine. I was so upset that I ended up taking the machine back and getting a full refund. Companys just need to be honest about what they are selling.
