Making Telesales Better
I am a mother with three children and I’ve had my fair share of rude telemarketers calling at the most inopportune times of the day. During dinner I would often find myself getting up to answer the phone, only to have a shrill fast-speaking stranger on the other end trying to sell me something. At first I was polite enough to say no thank you, but after receiving their rude responses, I found myself being the first to bark a rude word and hang up.
As my children got older, I decided it was time for me to get back into the human resource field of the business world that I had worked in prior to expanding my family. With a lot of one-on-one interaction with various employees and having held training sessions on business etiquette, I thought why not extend those to the field of inside sales. I decided to set up my own sales consulting agency that would work hands on with people aspiring to work in inside sales. With telemarketers getting such a bad rap these days, I taught my students how to be courteous and friendly when making phone calls and explained the importance of being part of an outsource company. I strove to make them realize that while making outsource inside sales calls, they are working for not only the company that pays them, but a whole network of companies selling a variety of products. The goal of my sales consulting agency isn’t only to help consumers have a more pleasant experience with telemarketers, but to help the companies who outsource telesales people to hire on professionals who care about what they are doing.
