Don’t waste time with questions that neither of you care about. This is made more true when you are in front of them. It makes you seem insincere and they won’t really care to buy from you. You also used their name, which if it isn’t outside their house on some sort of plaque it can be a little creepy. It’s even a little creepy when it is outside their house on a plaque. Instead of their name, introduce your name. It gives you a little bit of a more personal feel.

“Hi, my name is Greg and I’m a sales rep for Gerry and Sons, do you have a few minutes to let me come in and talk to you about our product line?”
They don’t have a few minutes. They never will have a few minutes to talk to you unless you already know them pretty well. They won’t have interest in your product line unless there has already been a sales rep through and their friends bought some, which means that they might have as well, or if you give them some information about the products. Instead, talk to them about what your product can fix in their life. Never ask to come into their house either. It doesn’t matter how hot it is outside, this has a good chance of creeping people out.

Some direct sales companies will give you training before sending you out, Southwestern Company does. Other sales companies won’t, so you might want to catch some kind of sales training before you go out door to door and pick up some tips on how to talk to people so that they want to buy before you try to sell to them.

Sienna Golf Club is a beautiful club that sits along the desert mountain silhouette. The course has a great route and pace so it really accommodates all levels of golfers. Everyone in the group will be entertained and have a chance to improve on their game. Like many courses there is a great blend of rolling green hills, water ways and sand pits to keep you on your toes. This is also a great place to host a wedding or special event. It truly is an oasis in the middle of the desert with endless sun.  

Another great public course near Las Vegas is the Arroyo Golf Club at Red Rock . This course also has some majestic views of mountains but they are the famous Red Rock Mountains as its back drop. From the seventh hole one can see the great Las Vegas city line and other views incredible views. This course is an Arnold Palmer course that has a great game waiting for everyone. The Arroyo grill has a special breakfast and lunch waiting for you when it is time to relax. This is a little bit of a drive from the   best Vegas hotels but it is really worth the trip.

Delhi hotels continue to fill with tourists from around the world who are there as much to see the contemporary establishments as they are to visit the great historic landmarks and experience some of the traditional heritage of India and this major city. Some of the popular things for tourists to do include visiting some of the beautiful and numerous historic landmarks. The historic village of Hauz Khas Village is one of the popular attractions. It has been encompassed by modern urban Delhi, though it represents a beautiful aspect of the city’s history. It is frequently considered to be a green paradise and today there are some art studios and small cafes in the area.

The Red Fort is one of the all time favorite destinations for tourists and it is also one of the city’s most famous. It dates from 1648 though construction on this massive fortress began about ten years prior to that. Ajmal Khan Park and the beautiful Musical Fountain in it are an incredible sight to see and provide an amazing evening experience in the city. The fountain is in operation four two hours after sunset on everyday except for Tuesday. This is definitely something you will not want to miss when visiting Delhi.

The Sound and Light show is another visual spectacular that will captivate the interest of your entire family. It takes place in the historic Purana Qila and takes viewers on a journey through the history of the capital and all of the political and social dynamics that were a part of it.

George Washington was born in Westmoreland County when Virginia was still a colony. Prior to becoming the nation’s first president he served as the commander of the Continental Army during the Revolutionary War. He served as President from 1789 to 1797. He has become a symbol of honesty and outstanding character in this country and most children are introduced to the apocryphal story of his cutting down the cherry tree and being unable to tell a lie confessed the deed to his father.

James Monroe was also born in Westmoreland County and served as the fifth President of the United States. He was in office from 1817 to 1825 and one of the reasons he is most known for is the Monroe Doctrine. Among other things this was a decisive statement on the end of tolerance for European interaction in American affairs. Thomas Jefferson remains one of the outstanding popular figures from American history and is well remember for numerous reasons. Among them is having been the principle author of the Declaration of Independence . He served as President from 1801 through 1809.

Some of the changes that have happened as I’ve aged include:

• I stopped buying things just because they were trendy. I know my own style now so I don’t have to buy the hottest items in the store. I buy them if they fit my style and budget. I leave them if they don’t.
• I do more shopping around before making big purchases. I used to buy things on impulse a lot more than I do now. When I buy important items now I usually shop around, read reviews and try to make a smart purchase that will last me a long time.
• I shop alone. I used to do a lot of my shopping with my girlfriends. Eventually I realized that I make smarter purchases (and actually enjoy the experience a lot more) when I shop alone. I get coffee with my girlfriends but do my shopping by myself.
• I buy things made for an older woman. I’m not exactly in the realm of purchasing diabetic socks but I have been known to buy comfort shoes. I’m willing to buy what’s right for me.

One of my favorite Christmas stories is “The Gift of the Magi” — a short story written by O. Henry about a hundred years ago.  It is about a poor young couple who, with no money to buy one another gifts, each sells their one thing of value in order to buy a gift for the other.  Unfortunately, it turns out their gifts are useless with their valuables gone.  The real gift was not what they bought for one another, but what they were willing to give up for one another.

I think of this story when I think about this Christmas.  We have been in tough economic times for a while now, and a lot of people are either reluctant to spend money, or have no money to spend.  But for many folks, giving up Christmas is not a possibility.

If you need money for Christmas presents for the family, consider what valuables you might have to sell.  For instance, you might be able to sell jewelry that you no longer wear in order to raise some money for Christmas presents — there are plenty of gold buyers and pawn shops that will give you cash for your jewelry.  Electronics and certain valuable collectibles, such as antiques, also provide a way to raise money quickly.

There is something about giving up something for ourselves in order to do something nice for another person that makes us feel good — more human, in a way.  And after all, this is the spirit of giving.  What can you do for your loved ones this Christmas?

My main source of experience with kids is from a job working in child care when I was younger, and one year we had a kid with a physical disability in the classroom.  We always had to be sure the tables were spaced out enough so that a wheelchair could get between them, and other accessibility precautions like that.  So this time of year I can’t help but wonder how kids with disabilities do the other things kids do — such as trick-or-treating.

Think about it.  There are no stairlifts or wheelchair ramps on most people’s houses.  And some costumes obviously won’t work with some disabilities.

While I was searching for information online, I found this article, about finding appropriate costumes for kids with special needs.  The article comments about ensuring the costume is safe — obviously, if the child has severe vision problems you won’t want to make it worse with a mask that limits his field of vision or prohibits him from wearing his glasses.  Likewise, if a child has a physical disability you need to make sure the costume won’t restrict his movement too much.

Next you may need to find somewhere else to trick-or-treat.  Either find a neighborhood where the houses don’t have lots of stairs in front, or look for a trick-or-treating event someplace else, such as in your local mall.  You may also be able to find Halloween parties specifically for kids with disabilities — check with your local support organizations for more information.
