Never Assume
As a professional working musician in Ft. Lauderdale health insurance was something that I was certain would be impossible to get. I had always wondered what would happen if something bad were to happen. Like if I got hurt or sick, who would pay my medical bills? I really don’t have that kind of money since I often live from gig to gig.
And I assumed that there would be no way that I could afford to pay for Fl health insurance anyway. I thought that it would be just way too expensive, so I never even made the slightest attempt to look into it. I guess that is what happens when you assume though.
I was working a gig doing a duet in a small club with another musician I frequently work with and we were taking a short break. We got to talking about health insurance and she told me that she had it and it really wasn’t that expensive. She didn’t have the contact information for her Ft. Lauderdale health insurance agent, but said she would get it to me. Well the next day, her agent called me and we had a nice chat on the phone. To make a long story short: never assume. I have coverage now, and should have had it all along!
