The best meditation technique

I was wondering which meditation techniques work the best.  I want to start adding meditation to my daily routine but there are so many different techniques that I could use.  I want to choose meditation techniques that are proven to work in lowering stress.  

The benefits of meditation are so far reaching that I know I will feel better once I start.  It’s just a matter of choosing how I meditate.  And I will admit I’m a bit confused and overwhelmed at where to start.  I own my own company and don’t have a lot of time to go through web pages and books searching for meditative techniques.  Besides, I figure it’s always better to get the information from people who are actually doing it, rather than people who are writing about it.

Have been doing a bit of peeking around the internet and as a result I’m really quite interested in guided breathing and how long it would be before I started reaping the benefits from it.  Would it be immediate or would I gradually notice a difference over time? Does anyone themselves use guided breathing or know of anyone that does?   Do you find it helps?  Is it hard to pick up?  Thanks.
