Need Toddler Safety Advice for Fountains
I have a toddler who gets into absolutely everything, so of course we have all of the usual child-safety trappings like stair gates and cabinet locks. One of the newer concerns is a toilet lock because I guess sometimes kids bend into the bowl, get themselves up-ended and can’t get themselves out again so they drown.
I understand how that can happen, so now I’m a little worried about getting water wall fountains. It sort of depends on what kind of basin that the water empties into, I guess. I’ve seen rather large basins, and I’m sure a toddler could fall head-first into one of those. Kind of reminds me of that chilling scene from Ray when the baby brother dies. Do they have any safety preventatives for wall water fountains? It’s not like you can put them behind a gate the same way you can a jacuzzi or a pool.
How do people get around this? I was thinking of sort of elevating the fountain. Has anyone else had this problem and you came up with a neat way to solve it? Maybe one of those kinds where the water just runs straight down the wall of the fountain and empties into a slot is the best answer.
