Halloween is an Expensive time of Year
Even though Halloween is one of my favorite times of the year, it is also one of the most expensive for our family. Back before we had children, it cost less than a hundred dollars to pickup two adult Halloween costumes, but now, we need to buy some for our kids as well.
At first, we tried to make our own kids Halloween costumes, but once we both were settled down in our careers, it just wasn’t that easy. Instead we found ourselves buying them for our children, and if you are a parent, you know that it adds up pretty quickly.
One of the other challenges that we faced is that you really couldn’t reuse the costumes – kids just grow too fast. So, we make sure to save up money the whole year so that we have just enough for that one holiday.
Now, we have to start saving a little bit more as we have purchased a couple of puppies, and I am sure that the kids will want to get dog costumes for them. I don’t know how that will work, but supposedly, they are available.
Though Halloween is expensive, the money is worth it – I bet that my kids will have made some of their best memories from childhood thanks to the time and attention that we spent to this fun holiday.
