Getting a Dog to Meet People
If you’re having a tough time making new friends as an adult then the problem is most likely that you just don’t really know how to meet people. One easy way to start meeting people is to get a dog and to use that dog to get introduced to people.
Having a dog automatically provides people with something to approach you to talk about. Take your dog to the park, the beach or for walks in your neighborhood and you’ll find that strangers are suddenly talking to you in public. There are also things like puppy socials that are set up for dog owners to meet one another.
You should choose a dog that is going to be attractive to other people as well as a dog that will get along well in crowds. Good options include the Chesapeake Bay Retriever, the Rhodesian Ridgeback and the Pembroke Welsh Corgi.
Of course, you shouldn’t get a dog for the sole purpose of meeting others. You should get a dog because you want a pet and will take care of it for a long time to come. You may even find that the companionship of a good dog makes you feel a lot less lonely and that you’re no longer as concerned about meeting people once you get one!
