Remembering Our Lost Son
One of the cardinal rules of life is that your children should not die before you. For most people, their lives turn out this way and in some respects, life for them is predictable. But, if you are like us, you are left with a terrible void when your child passes away.
We loved Michael and loved how he made each day special. He was a miracle of sorts as we were told that we wouldn’t be able to have children and yet somehow he ended up in our lives. We were lucky enough to have him for the past fourteen years and we just lost him this spring to cancer.
Let me just say that we have had some problems letting go, and you will find a number of photo blankets throughout our home with pictures of him. I think that my favorite would have to be the fleece photo blankets we have on our bed - they have pictures of us with him.
For the meantime, we have left his room intact, complete with the ugly polka dot bedding that we bought him for his last birthday. We do really miss him a lot - I just hope that this pain will go away someday…
