How Canada ski vacations saved my marriage
Anyone married for more than a few years will likely attest to the fact that once the luster has worn off the new union, both parties really must work hard to keep things fresh and vibrant. Going into my 6th year of nuptials, I decided that we really needed some time away.
Not from each other, mind you, but from everyone and everything else in our worlds. I started looking into some getaway spots and stumbled upon Canada tour packages. I’d never really entertained the notion of traveling to Canada for a vacation, so the concept held a fair amount of intrigue.
Now what I did not realize is that my wife had visited Canada often as a child with her family. Apparently this was one of those little mysteries that she had kept from me. And while I’m sure it was not on purpose, it was true nonetheless.
As I poked through some of the options I came across some very attractive Canada ski vacations that I knew I would love. Deciding that booking the trip and surprising my wife was the way to go, I sprung the plans on her at dinner just last week.
You would not believe her response. All those childhood memories came flooding back, and with an emotional tidal wave, she indicated this was probably the best thing to have happened within our marriage. It might have even headed off an eventual separation had we not decided to take some time away from it all up in Canada.
