Washington, Jefferson, Monroe Born in Virginia
Virginia is one of the great beautiful states in this country. In addition it has served as a prominent factor in the early development of this country and interestingly has been the birthplace of more American presidents than any other state in the country. In fact, eight of this nation’s presidents have been born in this state and among them are James Monroe, Thomas Jefferson and even the first President of the United States of America, George Washington. All three of these were pretty heavy hitters and were extremely important in the development of this country. One of the state’s nicknames is Mother of Presidents, and this, among other great attributes, is a strong point of pride of the state and its residents. And this is one of the intriguing aspects of the state to many of the guests in the best hotels Virginia .
George Washington was born in Westmoreland County when Virginia was still a colony. Prior to becoming the nation’s first president he served as the commander of the Continental Army during the Revolutionary War. He served as President from 1789 to 1797. He has become a symbol of honesty and outstanding character in this country and most children are introduced to the apocryphal story of his cutting down the cherry tree and being unable to tell a lie confessed the deed to his father.
James Monroe was also born in Westmoreland County and served as the fifth President of the United States. He was in office from 1817 to 1825 and one of the reasons he is most known for is the Monroe Doctrine. Among other things this was a decisive statement on the end of tolerance for European interaction in American affairs. Thomas Jefferson remains one of the outstanding popular figures from American history and is well remember for numerous reasons. Among them is having been the principle author of the Declaration of Independence . He served as President from 1801 through 1809.
